Treat your Sol y Tierra candle to some candle care

Hot tip: Your Sol y Tierra candle can burn for more than 28 hours if treated with some candle care. Here's a few notes on how to care for your candle so it can burn smoother and longer:

Let the wax melt to the edge of the container

Do this every time you light up your candle, but especially during the first burn. Otherwise, you'll end up with a small melt pool.

A full melt pool means you've let the candle burn long enough so that the melted wax reaches the edge of the container.

You can probably guess what a small melt pool is: when the melted wax doesn't reach the edge of the container because it was extinguished before it had a chance to melt for longer. That'll mean you'll end up with lots of wax around the edge of the container that will never get melted. In other words, your candle will not last as long.

Extinguish the candle with the included lid

We're the first to admit that we didn't know that's what candle lids were for until we started making them ourselves.

When you're ready to turn off your candle, take the lid that we shipped with your candle and place it on top of the candle for a few seconds. That'll extinguish the flame without any soot or smoky smells.

Trim the wick after every use

Keep your candle nice and clean by trimming the wick about 1/4" before you light it up each time. You can use some regular scissors or a wick trimmer.

These are our top tips on candle care to keep that flame going as long as possible. Happy self-caring!
